TREL is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Africa Renewables Group. TREL’s mission is to connect Africa to the green economy. In Ghana, TREL is focused in producing biomass, through a process beginning with the felling of trees, right through to the point where woodchips are ready to be exported by sea to power generators in Europe. The objective is to release the value embedded in the under-utilized biomass. TREL aims to work with counterparties in Africa that have access to large biomass inventories. TREL’s first project is with Ghana Rubber Estates Limited (GREL) to rejuvenate its plantation of rubber trees in Ghana while developing a new commodity trade.
